Glory teleports to Amazonia and finds it deserted except for elemental spirits. One of them, the water demon Nyx, announces himself to Glory and recounts how the spirits would not dare to visit the island without permission during Lady Demeter’s rule. He describes the Amazonians’ historic relationship with humanity, from fighting warriors to inspiring artists, and how it was mirrored by spirits from the Underworld haunting and terrifying humans. In one such interlude, Lady Tabitha assaulted a hapless hippie and became impregnated with the boy who became Vandal. The Amazonians and demons of the Underworld worked together to protect humanity from the forces of Hell. Demeter had a romance with the Underworld’s ruler, Lord Silverfall, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Glory. Disagreement over Glory’s proper place ended the alliance, and Demeter raised and trained Glory among the Amazonians. But, Glory’s savagery in battle showed her demonic heritage and made her an outsider. After she left to live among humanity, the fire and water demons joined forces to attack Amazonia. Most of the Amazonians were left frozen in ice, protected by Demeter and her handful of guards. Nyx taunts Glory about the Amazonians’ fate and attacks her. She responds by impaling him with her sword and says the spirits better be respectful or else they will answer to her.
